Airplane food in the new generation

image

We spent all day Saturday in airports and on planes heading back to Oregon to visit my family. This is my first visit back since moving to Asheville in March, and it was definitely great to see everyone again.

We flew via Continental/United airlines, and our long flight from Newark to Portland offered a menu with a great selection of foods. Sara and I both opted for the tapas plate (pictured), which was quite awesome!  Most of the individual items came packaged with nutritional information, so we were able to total things up and figured it was about 550-600 calories for the whole thing.

And to top it off, the ingredients were clean and appropriate without a bunch of additives. It’s always good to find a healthy eating option when you weren’t expecting it!
